National Veterans Memorial and Museum
The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is a museum dedicated to veterans in the United States. It is situated along the Scioto River, between Downtown Columbus and Franklinton. It is a great place to learn about the lives of the men and women who have served their country.
There are eight panels with life-size portraits of veterans. Each portrait is flanked by a plaque listing the name of the veteran. There are also combat boots in front of each portrait. The project’s executive director, Mike Strahle, served in the Vietnam War and was wounded in 2005.
A veteran advisory committee was formed to help with the project, and more than $82 million was raised through private philanthropy and public partnerships. The project’s design team included Allied Works Architecture, OLIN, and Ralph Appelbaum Associates. More than 30,000 people visited the museum during its construction.
There are many events planned in Central Ohio to commemorate the September 11 attacks. Some will take place at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, while others will take place at local parks. Several memorial services will also take place at Motts Military Museum, 5075 S. Hamilton Rd.
The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is the only museum in the country that is dedicated to the experiences and sacrifices of every veteran. It is located on the west bank of the Scioto River and is near COSI. It is a great place to honor the men and women who fought in the wars.

The Crowne Plaza Columbus North-Worthingington, Ohio is a decent hotel but not a great place to host an event. The photos don’t do it justice. The bathrooms were filthy with rust and had no towel hooks. The elevator was broken constantly, which meant we had to use the stairs.
The hotel has been undergoing an upheaval in the past 18 months. I was pleasantly surprised to find my room still remarkably clean, but the bathroom smelled like weed and the bathroom was shabby. The pool was filled with white floaters, and the stairwells were lined with signs stating that a room key is required.
